Job Summary

AECOM is a supplier of comprehensive contractor services to the nuclear power industry. Our expertise encompasses discrete or bundled services of program management, planning, licensing/permitting, QA/QC, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, maintenance, outage management, and decommissioning. Having 60+ continuous years of nuclear experience, we have executed projects spanning new generation and facility expansions, heavy component replacement (in our SGT JV with Areva), modifications for beyond-design-basis regulation and guidelines, operating plant services, and, in emergencies, the restoration of operations. Our client base covers the industry ? regulated/unregulated power generators, NSSS suppliers, including SMRs, and developers of uranium enrichment facilities.

AECOM is seeking a Contracts Manager, for our Nuclear project based in our Kincardine, ON location. An ideal candidate will be local or willing to relocate to the area.

Reporting to the AECOM Joint Venture Steering Committee with dotted line reporting to the Joint Venture Project Directors, the Contracts Manager is responsible for providing accurate and timely commercial advice, consistent with their education, training and experience, all in accordance with Corporate and AECOM Joint Venture Project requirements and policies.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for project Contract Management.
  • Review and negotiate commercial agreements including requests for quotation, requests for proposals, confidentiality agreements, pre-bid agreements, purchase orders, subcontracts, contracts, consortium agreements, joint venture agreements having regard for their practical application and inherent risks. Recommendations to operating staff during the estimating, pre-award, construction and post construction phases.
  • Draft or amend Departmental contracts and commercial agreements.
  • Prepare project specific contract administration manuals based on corporate template.
  • Assist project staff with the interpretation and practical application of contract documents.
  • Documentaton of significant events occuring at the project.
  • Assist in formation and administration of contracts with Subcontractors and ensure that required and relevant terms and conditions are flowed down to Subcontractors.
  • Assist project staff with identification, documentation and quantification of changes in the work and claims.
  • Act as the point of contact to Bruce Power for contractual matters.
  • Liaise and provide guidance on contract matters to Project Management, Supervisor and other team members as required.
  • Create and deliver presentations and workshops as required by the Supervisor to employees reagdring contract administration including corporate policies, procedures and guidelines, change and delay management.
  • Continuing education with respect to construction law.
  • Contribute to the revision and maintenance of Operating Policies and Procedures.
  • Obtain the assistance of the appropriate Legal department, as required.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business, Law or a related field or demonstrated equivalent.
  • 12 years of experience in project management, business administration, law, scheduling, cost, materials, procurement or engineering.
  • Knowledge of construction law, negotiating and drafting construction contracts.
  • Knowledge of project operations, policies, procedures and strategic direction.
  • Experience dealing with labour obligations and their impact on the Project.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

Due to the nature of work conducted by AECOM, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment.
Our background check process includes a full security check and clearance process as well as reference checks. The security clearance process includes a comprehensive list of previous residences, employment, education and other pertinent information. Those with a valid Bruce Power security clearance are strongly preferred.
